Urnian-british Cross-over

The 400-year-old “Nossenhaus” in Andermatt owes its name to a girl’s speech impediment
A local and a London architect rebuilt it without forgetting its roots.
The reconstruction of the Nossenhaus took two years. “The Swiss have a long tradition in solid wood construction”, says architect Tuckey, “but the modernisation of this building with a new wood construction technique was also a special experience for us. We had to create an interlocking wooden system from the historic house and new wooden elements in order to
that the building complies with modern standards and current building codes.”
The neue Holzbau AG was allowed to carry out the engineering work. Delivery: Solid wood floors (n’H planks) and the roof structure.
